Easter Campout

  • Lake Solano County Park

OMC Participation Points Event.

Hallelujah!! Your Easter Camp Task Force has finally settled upon an alternative campground that should satisfy the needs of each, or at least most, of us. It's not the ocean, it's not a leisurely lake, it's not under the redwoods, but it will be a comfortable, clean, quiet, and safe spot where we can enjoy our time together. Additionally, various leisure activity opportunities are close by.

We will be camping at Lake Solano County Park, west of Winters on the banks of beautiful Putah Creek. The address is: 8685 Pleasants Valley Road, Winters.

Information re: the facilities can be found at: http://www.co.solano.ca.us/depts/rm/countypark/lakesolano.asp.

On-line reservations can be booked from this website, as well. Please note that the campground is accessible only between the hours of 8AM and 9PM. Perhaps a minor inconvenience, but a nice element of security. Also, daily visitors to the campground are charged $5.

The sites are 60' paved, have electric and water hookups, with a daily rate of aprox. $20 for seniors (aprox $32 for youngsters), or thereabouts. Sites will accommodate an additional vehicle @ $10/night.

Tracy will reserve and pay in advance for the sites we initially require. These initial reservations will be made in advance for ONLY those we know are committed to attend. As such, all committed attendees must let us know ASAP re. their requirements as to which nights they will be camping. Attendees are asked to promptly reimburse Tracy for the cost of reservations being requested.

Subsequent reservation needs should be individually booked by the attendees via the website on-line system. An early group will be arriving on Thur 3/24.

Activities include a day-use area with the usual park facilities e.g., swings, (horseshoes?), swimming area, boat launch, etc. Boat rentals will hopefully be available:

Additionally, John Reade will be bringing an inflatable 12' boat, and the ole' Geezer is planning to have his solo kayak available for any wishing to paddle it. Others having water toys are encouraged to bring them. A few short hiking trails and an environment for lucrative birdwatching are in the park. Some nice moto roads are nearby in the Lake Berryessa area. A trip into town provides the opportunity for dining at a few nice eateries including the famous Buckhorn Steak and Roadhouse:

Surely, some of us will sadly miss our ocean camp, bur please join in our excitement and great anticipation of a fun time at the Easter Camp. Mark's Saturday hotdog feed and Geezer's Sunday "Geezer Caesar" celebration are scheduled as usual.

Questions or concerns can be addressed to Tracy or Geezer.

Thanks for your patience. As always, we are doing our best.

Your Trusty Servants
