Stonyford Volunteer Appreciation Day

Note: People going up on street bikes are leaving the Denny's in Cordelia at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 16.

The staff in Stonyford is setting up a Volunteer Appreciation/Poker Run/Trash Clean Up Day for our volunteers on Saturday, June 16!

This is what we imagine the day will look like:

• 9:00 – 10:00 volunteers sign up to ride.
• 10:00 – 1:00 leave on OHVs to pick up trash.
• At each checkpoint, you must have 10 pieces of trash to qualify for a poker card.
• A map will be provided to the checkpoints, and each individual can ride any part of the trail system to gather litter from the forest.
• 1:00 reconvene @ Nail Track for a BBQ, and draw your best poker hand!
• We are hoping all volunteers will bring a dish to share! The Forest Service will provide a large BBQ grill. 
• Prizes awarded!

This is what we need help with:

• Provide meat, sodas, ice, condiments & paper products
• Individuals bring a dish for potluck ( please e-mail me, so I have an idea of what is being brought and what is needed)
• Folks to help sign up & help @ poker hand table & pass out prizes -- 2 people
• Folks to manage 5 checkpoints (preferably someone with a pickup truck) -- 10 people
• Folks to man the BBQ -- 2 people
• Folks to set up food tables and organize the food dishes -- 2 people
• Prizes (not sure how many)

The Forest Service will host the event & provide:

• Large BBQ grill
• Trash cans/bags @ the checkpoints
• Tables

We are targeting clubs to do most of the work, but we have several volunteers who help us out here and there. We will be inviting these folks to participate in the activities, as well. I know that feeding them is a concern, so if you want, you can set up a donation jar to cover the cost.

Any ideas you have, please feel free to share them with me. If there is something that we have overlooked, please share that, too! Please respond as to which task you would like to assist with (purchasing food, managing checkpoints, grilling & organizing the food tables, sign-up table) Also, please let me know what type of potluck dish you will be bringing.
